Barn Hunt is a game of hide and seek for dogs that love to use their hunting instincts by actively using their sense of smell, hearing, and sight.
Barn Hunt is the new and quickly growing dog sport catching fire across the country! Barn Hunt is based on the traditional roles of many breeds in ridding farms, barns, crop storage areas, and homes of destructive vermin. Some breeds were specifically created to fill this role, and for many of those breeds, Barn Hunt provides their first true opportunity for responsible breeders to test proper working traits in their dogs. Barn Hunt is also open to any dog of any breed or mix who wishes to play the game and can fit through an 18” wide by bale-height tall tunnel. Barn Hunt has titles, levels of increasing difficulty, and championships. Barn Hunt is an independent sport, but titles are recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the United Kennel Club (UKC), and the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).
Barn Hunt is committed to creating a safe and fun sport for dogs, that also holds rat care at the highest level of consideration. The rats used in Barn Hunt are beloved family pets. They jump eagerly into their safe, comfortable aerated tubes and truly enjoy interacting with the dogs.
We’re a great sport for older dogs, and older people too! Tripod dogs can compete, and so can deaf dogs. We hope you try it, we think you’ll like it!
For more information and history of the sport, there is a great new book available called: Barn Hunt by Eva Raczka and Deb.M.Eldredge,DMV .

Sylvain Anichini : Owner and partner of Stonehedge Barn Hunt
Sylvain Anichini was born in Paris, France. He came to The United States to follow a path in engineering, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from NJIT. While going to school, he regularly worked at his family owned and operated full service grooming shop, where he assisted his mother, Leila Anichini in grooming and training. After finishing school, dogs became a larger part of his life. He expanded his knowledge of canine behavioral studies and decided to make it his passion, then later, his career .
He opened Stonehedge Kennel with his mother Leila in 1999 and for the past 20 years has been a dog specialist, from boarding, grooming, training, breeding and behavioral studies. Over the years he has been hands on working every day with every temperament, breed, age, and sized dog imaginable. It wasn’t a surprise when he decided to open Stonehedge Barn Hunt alongside his mother Leila. Since its creation he has used his 20 plus years of experience to host many successful Barn Hunt Club trials and seminars at Stonehedge Kennel.
His training method has been the core of many titles that The Stonehedge Team holds in the sport of Barn Hunt. Learn more about his method on our training page!
Our ring is one large enclosed heated and air conditioned, matted ring. We have over 80 bales of hay, plenty of parking and our property is completely fenced in. We have multiple shaded exercise pens, and a large staging area. Our spectator area is home to our unique “Stonehedge Cafe”, where during trials, people meet with other exhibitors and spectators. Make the trial even more fun by enjoying lunch and watching other teams compete on our 64” TV. Its a great way to learn from others and become an expert on the rules for all levels! Oh….. and our ratinettes are the best, coolest rats around!
