Rescue Partner

Paws 4 Ecuadogs was founded in 2016 and supported and Sponsored by Stonehedge Kennel. Stonehedge Kennel has recently created a new line of jewelry for dogs and humans called L’Creations. They are available for purchase at events and online. All the proceeds go directly to help improve the landscape for street dogs in coastal Ecuador. Our mission is to help the most destitute of the dogs in the area from Dos Mangas to San Jose. We have personally invested the funds necessary to build a ten run dog shelter in Dos Mangas on the property of our local partner, a vet, a Dr. Juan Carlos Muñoz. We first visited his property in 2016 and witnessed first hand his dedication to the extremely sick street dogs that he rescued himself and brought back to life with the limited resources he has. We started building a shelter where dogs can recover from disease, abuse and neglect.

Paws 4 Ecuadogs relies solely on donations and the proceeds of the jewelry sales from L’Creations by Stonehedge Kennel to buy supplies, medications, and specialized equipment to help care for the animals at the shelter. Paws 4 Ecuadogs also supports other spay and neuter campaigns organized by other volunteers in the area. This is just the beginning for Paws 4 Ecuadogs. With your help and support we can directly help more dogs that are suffering everyday.

Day Care

DAY CARE AT STONEHEDGE KENNEL MAY BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU FIND AT OTHER FACILITIES….

Day Care at Stonehedge provides a place where your dog will be able to relax and go at their own speed, make dog friends , socialize and play with each other.

This means doing doggie things such as sniffing, digging, playing with toys, and enjoying our shady, private, forested property. They can bark at our squirrels, play hide and seek, jump on hay bales, splash in the pools, or just lay down and doze in the sun. Your dog can play with some of our other guests, or just watch other dogs play and be silly. We believe that Day Care offers your dog a chance to gain social confidence with other dogs in safe surroundings, or if your dog is not interested in playing, he will not be forced to interact.

Although we supervise your dog’s activities, we are not here to bond with your dog so that he becomes jealous of our attention or transfers his loyalties from you. We do not believe a dog should play all day long—dogs also need rest periods and quiet time outs to relax and regroup and they get that at Stonehedge each day on a soothing and predictable schedule.

Who can stay? All dogs 14 weeks of age or older which have proof of required vaccines can be accepted into Day Care at our internationally-known Boarding/Training/Breeding facility.

We are firm believers in the benefits of affordable, supervised Day Care and have seen it pay off for many of our clients with a fitter, happier, and more socially well-adjusted dog, but the dogs have to be matched with new playmates of the appropriate age, size, disposition, and activity level. Stonehedge Kennel’s owners and staff have the experience to safely integrate your dog into the proper playgroup. If you engage our services on a day or week when we have few boarders or other day care clients, we have three sizes of well-socialized dogs in our personal kennel to offer to socialize your dog. We have friendly toy, medium, and large size new playmates for your pet.

Our goal is to have your dog happy and tired!

All candidates for Day Care begin with an individual evaluation where we give our recommendation about the playgroup we think would work best and how often that dog should come in order to derive the maximum benefits of Day Care.

Day care at the dog resort is not only reserved to dogs that are socialized and like to play. It can also be very beneficiary to dogs that need confidence toward life in general, supper active, and puppies .

Day Care is offered every day but Sunday. Hours are from 9am to 6pm. Extended hours are offered as early as 7:30am for drop off with prior appointment.

What is a typic day at Stonehedge for you dog? After dropping of your pet, your pet will have a little time alone to relax off some of their excitement or nerves. Then it will be introduced into a play group suitable to his size and temperament. Dogs that don’t mix well with others will have the same attention and will be able to run around on their own. Both Groups or single guests will get a turn to explore, sniff and more in our nature, double fenced, dog park. Then they will have a nap time where your pet gets their own area (heated or air conditioned) to relax and rest before going out to play again. All our pens are shaded, secured and equipped with automatic water bowls. We put out swimming pools in the summer and provide coats if necessary in the winter.
